We have discovered that is is not uncommon for the President of the Philippines to declare non-working holidays just days before the holiday itself. For instance, it was declared on the 4th of September, that the 7th and 21st of September would be national holidays. These holidays are only for this year, they are not used in later years. The office staff have the day off, but our dad is working. We still have to do school!

Elise, you need to tell your teacher to "loosen up" . . . how can you possibly appreciate the culture if you are not allowed to experience their days off!!! :-)
