Minor earthquakes are routine on these islands along the edge of the Philippine sea plate. Since we arrived in Davao, we have experienced 4 or 5 small earthquakes. The latest one was this afternoon. It's never been frightening for us, only exciting! (Please don't worry about us!) We feel the ground vibrating, see the clothes in the closet swinging, and within 20 or 30 seconds all is still. Here are the statistics for today's quake:
It does always serve as a solemn reminder of the power of our God. The mountains quake before him and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, the world and all who live in it. Nahum 1:5 |

I bet it beats rides at an amusement park!
Wow! Had no idea. Was wondering what you did for excitement.
we're making you jealous again, right??!??
You're having entirely too much fun.
I hope the buildings there and your apt. are built to withstand earthquakes! Do you know?
thanks for thinking of our safety! our apartment is cement with steel reinforcing. but we know where our real security is... ;o)
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. (Psalm 46:1-3)
