go to the ant

Or should we say, 'Go away, ant?'
Did you know that more than 12,500 out of an estimated 22,000 ant species have been classified?
And I think that they are all in our kitchen.

(Can you see the trail, up the cabinet face, and to the left across the top of the cabinets? that wasn't all - the trail started at ceiling level on another wall, and ended down past the bottom cabinets in the trash.)

Up until now we've had very few ant invasions in our home. Before we moved in we sprayed thoroughly to discourage ants and other interesting critters.

But then, that was a whole two months ago!!!
This trail appeared while we were out for a little while. When we came home and turned on the lights, there they were, hard at work.

Just another joy of living in the tropics.

"Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!"
Proverbs 6:6

They may be a great example of industry, but I do wish they'd find another spot to do their work...

I understand ants are a great source of formic acid, also known as ant acid.

Guess it could be worse, huh? Could be an army of rhino beetles lifting the doors off your cabinets!
