For as long as we've been a family,
it's been our tradition to each choose a Christmas cookie
for baking at Christmastime.
And for as long as I can remember, one of the cookies chosen
has always been gingerbread.
Decorating them is more than half the fun.
And I must admit that my decorating staff has come a long way in a few short years.
Our cookies never used to look this good, guys!
The process moves a little slowly when you can only bake a few at a time...
But it's worth it.

Last year the trimmings were pretty sparse,
and all we had were borrowed cookie cutters.
But we've been collecting throughout the year,
and the result was pure fun.

Gingerbread is not in the Filipino vocabulary.
A friend asked me if it was like garlic bread?

She'll get to try it for the first time this year.

MMMM!! Makes me want to make gingerbread! Thanks for the photos from which I can steal the clever decorating ideas!!!! My gingerbread has always been decor free! Didn't think of doing what you guys do! Now if I could just twist the boys' arms to get them to participate!!

very interesting idea...garlic-gingerbread?!?! well, you're the authority, churchcook, so you should know! but i don't think we'll be trying that recipe anytime soon :grin:
