kontist sa drawing

We held an art contest for children of our neighborhood last month.

Our hope was to look for talented kids on the street.

If we found any artists,

maybe we could encourage them to develop their skills

and even begin to generate some income using their talents.

What we didn't anticipate was just how much these kids would enjoy coming and drawing together,
talking with us, teaching me a bit of Visayan, sharing a snack,
and doing something creative and productive.

Dozens of kids entered the contest

Our first-place winner, Myrjoan
Her drawing of a Philippine Trogon

Our second place winner, Romy

It was such fun that we are hosting a second contest -
a Christmas art competition!

I'm praying about other ways to offer them opportunities to learn and develop skills.
Please share if you have any ideas for us!

The greatest good you can do for another
is not just to share your riches
but to reveal to him his own.
